Over Halfway Done With CORE DE FORCE

I did it! I am (actually MORE than) halfway done with CORE DE FORCE. Today is day 20 out of 30 for me. I know you are all wondering how much weight I have lost. Well, I have lost…. wait for it… TEN POUNDS! Yes guys, you read that right. I have lost 10 pounds with CORE DE FORCE in just 20 days. That’s nuts right? This program WORKS! My husband has lost 10 as well and his pants are literally falling off of him as he walks. Like down to his ankles. It’s quite funny. I laughed.

But the CORE in CORE DE FORCE is quite an accurate name for this program. It really works your core. Out of all parts of my body, I’m noticing the biggest improvement in my belly. I’m actually seeing abs. They are still beneath some fat, but I’m starting to see lines there that weren’t there before. It’s so amazing to see. I’m so excited and a little nervous to take my after pictures and measurements. I know I will have a difference, I’m just hoping it’s as good as I want it to be. I’m excited to take my husbands after pictures as well. He said I could share them, so that’s going to be fun. 🙂

I’ve really loved this program so much. The moves are awesome. They don’t get boring because you change it up so much. I think I’ve done all of the workouts now, and they are all so amazing. Some of them I have had to modify (I’m looking at you, Sphinx Blasters!), but I am surprising myself at how strong I am and what I can do. And I bet you will surprise yourself too!

One thing I’ve noticed is that, sometimes I feel like I can’t push any more, or I’m about to drop a move and move on to the modification… it’s not really my BODY that CAN’T do it, it’s my MIND that DOESN’T WANT to do it any more. Literally if I just SHUT my brain off for a minute and tell myself I CAN keep going, I DO! It’s amazing. Your body is strong. Your body can be stronger than your mind at times. Our minds will want to quit, but our bodies can actually keep going.

Try it. Tell your brain to shut up and let your body do the work. Let me know how it goes. 🙂

Don’t Wait for “Monday” to Start Your Diet- Just Start Now!

This is something I have to tell myself. A LOT. So I thought I might share with you all.

Don’t wait for Monday. Don’t wait. Do it NOW. I used to say, “I’m going to start Monday. I’ll start my “diet” then.” Don’t do that. Start now. When you wait you are wasting precious time and it means you probably won’t be as serious with it if you think you can put it off. Once you decide you want to change, THAT is your start. THAT is when you begin. I cannot count the number of “Last meals” I have had.

“Oh yeah, I’ll start on Monday, so this weekend I’m gonna go all out and eat everything because Monday it’s ON!”

And every time, by Tuesday, I’m back to my old ways and heavier than before. Don’t do that.

Start now!

If you get off track, if you have a bad meal, if you have a bad day, that does NOT ruin EVERYTHING! It just doesn’t guys. Shake yourself off and keep going. Don’t say you’ll start again MONDAY or you’ll start again tomorrow! Start again now.

It’s constantly recommitting, it’s constantly making mistakes maybe, but continuing no matter what.

Quick and Easy CHOCOLATE Sweet Potato Pudding Recipe

So recently we had literally over a hundred sweet potatoes given to us. We were so excited and thought we could definitely use them all up before they went bad. But that just did not happen. I had to figure out what to do with them to preserve them so we could freeze them and use them in the future.

What I ended up doing was peeling them, and roasting them in the oven. Once they had cooled, I individually wrapped each of them in plastic wrap (I would have done aluminum foil but I was all out so I just used what was on hand) and then put them in a big freezer bag and into the freezer they went.

Well we’ve used a few of them since then, but I honestly don’t really know what to do with them all. The texture after freezing and reheating isn’t that awesome, so they are really best in mashed form.

Tonight for dinner I slaved in the kitchen for my kiddos to make some yummy and healthy baked chicken nuggets. The kiddos would not eat them.  Isn’t that always the way? Slave over a healthy meal and they turn their noses up at it, but pour them a bowl of cheerios and they are happy kiddos. Cray cray.

Anyway, I wasn’t about to let those delicious nuggets go to waste. I’m on a diet (lifestyle change) so I was going to have some fish and quinoa and a veggie for dinner. But I didn’t want to waste the nuggets, and the really are not bad for you. So I had a couple and wanted to add a sweet potato and call it dinner.

So I reheated one sweet potato in the microwave, added a half a teaspoon of cocoa powder, a dash of cinnamon, and a splash of milk. Mixed it all up and whoa. It was amazing I tell you! It tasted like chocolatey sweet potato-ey puddingy goodness in my mouth.

It looks like poo. But it tastes like heaven. You can add a little sweetener of your choice if you wish. I foresee lots more of these chocolate potatoes in my future.

Quick and Easy Chocolate Sweet Potato Pudding


  • One medium sweet potato, peeled and cooked
  • 1/2 teaspoon cocoa powder
  • Dash of cinnamon
  • Splash of milk
  • Sweetener of choice

Take the medium potato and mash it up really nicely, or even throw it in a food processor. Add the 1/2 teaspoon of cocoa powder, dash of cinnamon, and splash of milk. Whisk to combine (or process in the processor). Sweeten to taste. Eat and enjoy! Let me know what you think in the comments below!

How do you workout when you have kids?

Ordinarily, I try to workout when my little guy takes a nap. But yesterday was rough, y’all. I had so much to do that I didn’t get to start my workout until it was almost time for him to wake up. Then he woke up and came downstairs right in the middle of my workout.

He actually did a few moves with me and was really good. I was impressed. Kiddo can throw some punches. We may have a little MMA fighter on our hands. He was rocking the CORE DE FORCE.

But then kiddo tried to go all trainer beast mode on me and try to give me a little extra weight for my planks.

Yes. He’s really just trying to help me. Sweet guy. He knows mommy needs to work on her core. Y’all, 30 extra pounds on your back for planks is HARD! But it also makes me think, wow. I’ve lost like 2.5 times that much weight. Wow. How much harder would my planks be with that much weight on me. Crazy to think about. I’m so thankful my weight is going down and that I’m not giving up.

So basically, that’s how my workouts go some days. Kids climb on me. Kids yell at me to jump higher. Sometimes kids join in on the workouts. Sometimes I get to work out in peace and quiet during naptime, but sometimes, having a kid on your back for planks is just how it goes.You just gotta roll with it. You gotta embrace the crazy.  And you get ‘er done.

CORE DE FORCE: Week 1- DONE! Start of Week 2

I successfully finished Week 1 of CORE DE FORCE! Yeah!!! Wow, what a great workout. I know you’re all curious about what results I had in the first week, right?

Well I’m super excited to let y’all know I lost 4 pounds during my first week. It seems crazy to me, but not so much when I consider that I really controlled my eating last week. I am also starting to see some definition in my obliques.

The workouts were challenging but fun. One thing that I really enjoy about this program is that I haven’t gotten bored. I looked over the schedule and it looks like I never will get bored. There are so many different workouts and they are so nicely spaced apart. You don’t do the same ones over and over again like in many other workout programs.

I also like that Joel and Jericho are actually doing the moves with you almost the whole time. One may walk over to another person for a minute to show you their form or something, but they quickly jump back in. And they alternate showing you the next move. So if Jericho showed you the last move, Joel will show you the next. At least that’s how it’s been up til now. I really like that. And I also wonder… how can they manage to talk while doing some of those exercises? They are in such good shape, I know that’s the answer. But I actually talked out loud today while I was doing some leg check planky type move (I’ll never remember what it’s actually called) and I really just got out a few grunts. I sounded ridiculous.

Whew. Okay so today was Day 1 of my second week of CORE DE FORCE which included TWO workouts. Today was MMA Shred and Core Kinetics. I had done MMA Shred before but not Core Kinetics. It really felt like it was ripping up my core. I’m super excited to do that one again.

My goal for this week is to really improve my nutrition. I was much better last week than usual, but want to be even better this week.

Core De Force: Day 4

Y’all. So today was day 4 of Core de Force. Power Sculpt. It. Was. Brutal. I mean. I actually thought I might die.

But guys! That’s SO GOOD! I was completely drenched in sweat and the moves were so different and challenging and I FELT it. I was kind of grumbling about the moves as I did them but afterwards I thought, WOW. You know what? That is really going to get results and that is what matters. Am I right?

Tomorrow is grocery day. Which is basically my favorite day of all days. Because. Food. Right? I’m excited to get some good stuff for meal prepping purposes. I usually try to keep my meal prep really boring because it’s just so much easier. So I will cook up a big batch of quinoa and a batch of peas. I will bake some fish and hard boil some eggs. Shakeology for breakfast and I’m good to go. I will literally eat the same thing for lunch and dinner every day if means my life is simpler.

But I’m thinking of trying some new recipes for a few days of my meal prep. Do you have any good ones to share?

Today was Day 2 of Core de Force for me. The name of the workout is called Dynamic Strength and it’s 47 minutes long. There was a warmup, then 12 three minute rounds, and then a cool down. Each round had three moves, each lasting a minute. It was mostly pushups (so many different pushups!), kicks, planks, balancing, and situps. Some of the moves were super challenging and I did end up following the modifier for a few of them.

I was dripping with sweat by the end of this killer workout, and my Fitbit claimed I burned 345 calories. I really enjoyed this workout because it was just so different from everything else I have done before.

Today was kind of a rough day at home with my kiddos. Sometimes homeschooling and just being home with the kids all day is exhausting. And I mean we are not literally HOME all day. We DO go out and see people and places. Just sometimes the fighting and the constant messes drive me nuts. I’m so happy to have Beachbody On Demand so that I can just stream the workouts (any workout!) wherever and whenever. I’ve been using naptime as my workout time. I put the little one down for a nap and let the big kids watch a movie or show in my room while I workout downstairs. I totally need that little bit of “me” time.

My meal prep lately has been kinda boring and I’m quite okay with that. It makes it super easy for me. Lately I’ve been doing quinoa, peas, and fish. Today I had some yummy salmon cooked with garlic and rosemary. So delicious!

Hey guys! I know there are always a lot of questions about how many calories you burn when doing an exercise program. Well, that honestly depends on so many factors. Generally the more you weigh, the more calories you will actually burn while doing any activity. The harder you push yourself during your workout will help you burn more calories. If you don’t go as hard as you know you can you will end up burning less calories. So this is not meant to tell you that you will definitely burn “X” amount of calories doing this workout. This is basically just giving you a general idea, and letting you know what I burned myself while doing this amazing program. As a reference I am 173 pounds. I am using my Fitbit Charge HR to track my calories burned. I love it and also have used a Polar FT4 and FT7 heart rate monitor. A few times I have worn the Polar and the Fitbit at the same time and it came up with almost exactly the same amount of calories burned. The Fitbit is just much more comfortable to wear, so I love using it. And as always, check with your doctor before beginning any program.

Becoming a Beachbody Coach

Hey everyone! Some exciting news here. So I’ve been doing really well over the past year and have dropped about 40 pounds total. I have been doing a mix of running, group exercises classes at the YMCA, and Beachbody workouts at home (mostly TurboFire and Chalean Extreme). I really love the programs Beachbody offers and truly believe in them. So I decided to sign up as a Coach!

I’m so excited about this new adventure. I’m definitely not atnmy goal weight or really anywhere close to it. But I am working hard at it. I love exercise so much and really just want to encourage people to find a program they can fall in love with as well. And that’s one of the best things about Beachbody (I think) is that there is literally a program out there for everyone, no matter what your fitness level is. I would love to chat with you and help you figure out your goals and help you decide how to achieve them.

As for myself, today I started Core de Force, which is a 30-day mixed martial arts inspired program.

I absolutely loved my first day. I was dripping with sweat. My first workout was called MMA Speed and it was 27 minutes long. It was definitely intense, but of course there were modifications they show you to bring it down a notch. I burned 255 calories in just 27 minutes, which I thought was awesome. I’m going to be creating a post where I will track my calories burned each day for Core de Force, so stay tuned for that.
